After reading George Steels article on free sailing model sailboats I had a look around on ebay and found this beautiful ketch. I really like the look of this sailboat and am very tempted to get one of these model sailboat kits myself.

The banks dory was a very common type of small dingy taken along on larger fishing schooners or just used by itself. This site describes a little bit more of the history and features detailed build instruction & model sailboat plans for the banks dory. Well worth to check out, but you will need to modify them for making a RC Sailboat out of it.

I got send this link to this really cool gadget for the iPhone that could be very useful to a lot of RC Sailboat captains.
It is a iPhone Application and when you want to know the current wind speed, you just hold your iPhone in to the wind and activate the app.
And it converts between mph, km/h, knots, fps, m/s, and Beaufort.

Click on the picture and you can view their video showing a comparison to a regular hand held wind meter.
